Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In a disturbing incident in Balatikudi, Dasnagar, a son was found living with his deceased mother for five days. The police were alerted on Sunday evening by neighbors who reported a strong, unbearable odor emanating from the house. Upon arriving at the scene, officers broke down the door to find the mother’s body inside the house. The son, identified as Suraj, was discovered in another room, reportedly in a state of distress.
Suraj, believed to be mentally disturbed, had been living with his mother in isolation, and there had been no significant interactions with neighbors. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the mother’s death, though initial reports suggest she had been dead for several days before the discovery. The cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed.
Neighbors expressed that they had not noticed anything unusual until the foul smell alerted them. "We had no idea what was happening inside," a neighbor said. "It was only when the smell became unbearable that we contacted the authorities." Suraj is currently under psychological evaluation, and further investigations are ongoing into the incident.
